03/12/2025 - Junior and Youth Red Cross Programmes

1. Junior Red Cross Orientation and Junior Red Cross Unit Inaugurated by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, IRCS on 02nd September 2025 at Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangalore.

2. On 03.09.2025 Youth Red Cross Unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore organised a District level One day Disaster Management Training Programme in collaboration with the NDRF and Regional Response Centre, Bengaluru. 150 students and members of the public actively participated in the training.

3. Indian Red Cross Society and Youth Red Cross of Dakshina Kannada District, Mangaluru organised World First Aid Day - 2025 on 13.09.2025 at Prerana Auditorium, IRCS Centenary Building.

The guests of honor, Eminent and Senior Faculty for First Aid training from IRCS, Karnataka State Branch Dr. B Ramachandra Bhat and Rtn Sri. MD N. Vinod Kudva addressed the gathering of YRC Volunteers befitting the occasion.

The programme presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch, in his presidential address briefed about the significance and purpose of conducting such awareness programmes. He has also briefed about the humanitarian services rendered by IRCS DK and YRC in the past and the roadmap for more such activities to reach out to the needy on time in future.

Shri. Mohan Shetty, Treasurer IRCS, Managing Committee Members Shri. Hariprasad Rai P.B, Dr. Sumana B and others were present in this programme.

Shri Kishorechandra Hegde, Secretary IRCS DK welcomed all and proposed the vote of thanks to all the gathering.

More than 225 YRC volunteers from the colleges of Mangalore University, Nitte, Yenepoya and Aloysius (Deemed to be Universities) enthusiastically participated.

An interactive session of 80 minutes, on First Aid Awareness was conducted by Resource person from Yenepoya Nursing College Shri Jithin Raj V.

14/10/2025 - Annual General Meeting of IRCS D.K District Branch Held for 2023-24 & 2024-25

Annual General Meeting DK District IRCS branch for the year 2023-24 & 2024-25 was conducted on 14.10.2025, Monday at 10.30 AM at Prerana Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society D.K “Centenary Building”. This meeting was presided over by Sri. Darshan H.V., I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner & President, IRCS. Chairman Sri. CA. Shantharama Shetty, Dr. Satheesh Rao Vice-Chairman, Sri. Mohan Shetty K Hon. Treasurer, Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde Secretary, Managing Committee Members, Advisors and others were present. 141 life members participated in the meeting.

15/08/2025 - Independence Day and Geneva Convention Day Celebrations

1. Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025 at IRCS, Centenary Building. Flag hoisted by Shri. Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Ex. Mayor Mangalore City Corporation. Chairman CA. Shantharama Shetty. Managing Committee Members Dr. Sachidananda Rai, Sri. Hariprasad Pai P.B, Sri. Gurudath Kamath, Sri. Pushparaj Jain, Sri. Mohan Shetty K, Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde Secretary and Staff, OJAS trust President Mrs. Mangala N.K, OJAS Trust members and others were present on this occasion.

2. on August 12, 2025 Indian Red Cross Society, D.K. District Branch, in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross, Mangalore University jointly organised Geneva Convention Day at Prerana Auditorium, Centenary Building, IRCS, Mangalore.

The purpose of this day is to convey the message to young minds that let us walk on the path of mercy, even in the midst of war. The programme was inaugurated with the Red Cross Song. The dignitaries and invitee who had arrived for the programme were welcomed by the Secretary of IRCS Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde.

The event began with an inauguration ceremony, including the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present on the dais. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. S.A. Prabhakara Sharma K.A.S., (Rtd) by lighting the lamp and said that youth to engage in more social work. The programme presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch. Managing Committee Members Dr. Sachidananda Rai, Sri. Gurudath M. Kamath, Sri. Yathish Baikampady, Sri. Mohan Shetty K, Dr. Sumana, Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde Secretary and others were present on this occasion.

13/08/2025 - World Organ Donation Day

1. on August 13, 2025 Indian Red Cross Society, D.K. District Branch, in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross, Mangalore University jointly organised “World Organ Donation Day” at Prerana Auditorium, Centenary Building, IRCS, Mangalore.

The event began with an inauguration ceremony, including the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present on the dais. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. C.P Habeeb Rahman Chairman and Medical Director, Unit Care & Health Services Pvt. Ltd by lighting the lamp and said that Organ that gives life even after death. It is necessary to create widespread awareness so that people voluntarily register for organ donation. The programme presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch. Rtn.Sathish Bolar, District Governor, Elect RI District 3181 Was Guest of Honour. Dr. Satheesh Rao, Vice-Chairman IRCS, Managing Committee Members Dr. Sachidananda Rai, Sri. Mohan Shetty K, Dr. Sumana, Sri. Hariprasad Pai P.B, Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde Secretary and others were present on this occasion.

Sri. Naushad Pasha Chief Co-ordinator, Jeevasarthakathe, Bengaluru gave information about the registration and process of organ donation.

The families of 07 donors who saved lives through organ donation were honoured. Dr. Gayathri Nodal Officer Mangalore University announce the donor details. Recipients Vaishnavi and Girish Aithal spoke about organ donation.

Distributed the prizes to students participated in the poster making and reels  competition by Rtn.Sathish Bolar, District Governor, Elect RI District 3181.

26/07/2025 - Inauguration of IRCS D.K District Centenary Building by Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka

On 26.07.2025 Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch “Centenary Building” inaugurated by Shri. Thawar Chand Gehlot Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka & President, Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State by lighting the lamp and said that the Red Cross, along with its traditional service work, should also be involved in raising awareness against environment pollution, alleviating people’s mental stress etc. Red Cross has trained hundred volunteers and is handling issues like disaster management and basic life support. Red Cross Youth is working in more than 160 countries and its encouraging student’s participation. Programme Presided by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch welcome the gathering.

Guest of Honour Shri. U.T Khader Fareedh Hon’ble Speaker, Karnataka State Legislative Assembly said that “we are not just doing blood donation work, Red Cross praised the D.K district unit of creating poetry that instilling human values among the youth. He said that he had donated blood when he was in law college. There is no grater act of charity than donating blood. He said that he should encourage young people in this regard.

Guest of Honour Capt. Brijesh Chowta M.P (Lok Sabha), Dakshina Kannada said that during the Covid period, the Red Cross extended a helping hand to all sections of the Society. He said that the new centenary building will give strength to more social work.

Shri. D. Vedavyasa Kamath M.L.A Mangalore South, Shri. Bhaskar Rao I.P.S, ADGP(Retd), Vice-President Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch was the Guests of Honour.
