27/06/2026 - World Blood Donor Day

Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch organised “World Blood Donor day-2026” felicitation individual Blood Donors who have donated blood for more than 10 times on 27.06.2026 at Prerana Auditorium, IRCS Centenary Building, D.C Office Compound, Mangaluru. Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Law College, in Association with SDM Law college Alumni Association & Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch Mangalore jointly organized "International Day of Yoga" held on 25.06.2026 at College Auditorium.The programme was inaugurated by CA. 13/06/2026 - NO TOBACCO DAY

Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch in association with District Surveillance Office and District Tobacco Control Cell and Government Pre Univeristy College, Hampankatta, Mangalore jointly organised "NO Tobacco day" on 13.06.2026 held at Auditorium, GPUC, Hampankatta, Mangalore.          The programme was inaugurated by Sri. P.B Hariprasad Rao, Managing Committee Member, IRCS, by lighting the lamp and presided over by Sri Vincent Antony Mascarenhas, Principal, GPUC, Hampankatta, Mangalore.

08/05/2026 - World Red Cross Day

➤ Indian Red Cross society, D.K District Branch Mangalore  in association with Youth Red Cross, Mangalore University jointly organised  Youth Red Cross Symposium in commemoration of “World Red Cross Day – 2026” on 08.05.2026 at Prerana Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society, Centenary Building, Mangaluru.

         The programme was inaugurated by Sri. D. Vedavyas Kamath MLA, Mangalore South, by lighting the lamp said that the Red Cross, through noble initiatives such as blood donation drives and disaster management services carried out without expectation of reward, continues to inspire students and youth. Appreciating the organisation’s efforts in providing free blood to poor patients during emergencies, he appealed to the public, institutions, and students to organise blood donation camps on a larger scale. The programme was presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society D.K District Branch. Dr. Rashmi Sudhir Uchil, Asst. Professor & Member Board of Governors, NITK, Surathkal and Dr. Kusum Thantry D’Sa  De-Addiction Counsellor & Educator, Mangalore guided students during the Youth Red Cross Symposium.

07/04/2026 - World Health Day

• InIndian Red Cross society, D.K District Branch Mangalore, Youth Red Cross, Mangalore University & Nitte (Deemed to be University) jointly organised  “World Health Day” on 07.04.2026 at Prerana Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society, Centenary Building, Mangaluru.

           The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Shraddha Shetty, Prof. & Head Department of  Obstetrics and Gynecology of KMC Hospital, by lighting the lamp said that “Even a serious disease like cancer can be saved by effective treatment if detected at an early stage. Preventive measures and regular check-ups are the best way to prevent the disease. It is necessary to create awareness among the common people about health care.”. Presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch 

          Dr. B. Sachidananda Rai Vice-Chairman, IRCS, Sri. Gurudath M. Nayak Treasurer IRCS, Managing Committee Members Dr. Satheesh Rao, Sri. Hariprasad Rai P.B, Sir. Raghavendra Rao, Advocate, Dr. Shanthanu Saha, Nodal Officer, YRC Nittee University  were chief guests. 

30/03/2026 - “International Women’s Day”

Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch Mangalore organised  “International Women’s Day” on 30.03.2026 at Prerana Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society, Centenary Building, Mangaluru.      The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Usman A, Deputy Director, Dept. of Women & Child Development lighting the lamp and presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch and said that respecting women is not just a duty, it is our culture. Women empowerment is the foundation for building a sustainable and strong society. He said that the District Red Cross will give high priority to providing various facilities including health camps to Anganwadi teachers who are engaged in humanitarian service along with the education of young children. Child Development Project Officer, Mangaluru Urban Project Ms. Shwetha N. was the chief guest. 

12/01/2026 - National Youth Day Celebration – YRC Awards 2025

Indian Red Cross Society and Youth Red Cross, D.K District Branch, Mangaluru jointly organized “National Youth Day” on the eve of “164th  Jayanthi of Swamy Vivekananda”- YRC Best Unit and Best Programme  Officer - 2025” award distribution Ceremony on 12.01.2026 at Prerana Auditorium, IRCS, Centenary Building, Old D.C office Premises, Mangaluru. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Subramanya Nayak, Principal New Mangala College of Nursing, Mangaluru by lighting the lamp and said that Swami Vivekananda's message was an inspiration for the youth to engage themselves in public service. The programme presided over by Sri. CA. Shantharama Shetty, Member, National Executive Committee, IRCS New Delhi and Chairman IRCS, D.K District Branch.

03/12/2025 - Junior and Youth Red Cross Programmes

1. Junior Red Cross Orientation and Junior Red Cross Unit Inaugurated by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, IRCS on 02nd September 2025 at Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangalore.

2. On 03.09.2025 Youth Red Cross Unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore organised a District level One day Disaster Management Training Programme in collaboration with the NDRF and Regional Response Centre, Bengaluru. 150 students and members of the public actively participated in the training.

3. Indian Red Cross Society and Youth Red Cross of Dakshina Kannada District, Mangaluru organised World First Aid Day - 2025 on 13.09.2025 at Prerana Auditorium, IRCS Centenary Building.

The guests of honor, Eminent and Senior Faculty for First Aid training from IRCS, Karnataka State Branch Dr. B Ramachandra Bhat and Rtn Sri. MD N. Vinod Kudva addressed the gathering of YRC Volunteers befitting the occasion.

The programme presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch, in his presidential address briefed about the significance and purpose of conducting such awareness programmes. He has also briefed about the humanitarian services rendered by IRCS DK and YRC in the past and the roadmap for more such activities to reach out to the needy on time in future.

Shri. Mohan Shetty, Treasurer IRCS, Managing Committee Members Shri. Hariprasad Rai P.B, Dr. Sumana B and others were present in this programme.

Shri Kishorechandra Hegde, Secretary IRCS DK welcomed all and proposed the vote of thanks to all the gathering.

More than 225 YRC volunteers from the colleges of Mangalore University, Nitte, Yenepoya and Aloysius (Deemed to be Universities) enthusiastically participated.

An interactive session of 80 minutes, on First Aid Awareness was conducted by Resource person from Yenepoya Nursing College Shri Jithin Raj V.

14/10/2025 - Annual General Meeting of IRCS D.K District Branch Held for 2023-24 & 2024-25

Annual General Meeting DK District IRCS branch for the year 2023-24 & 2024-25 was conducted on 14.10.2025, Monday at 10.30 AM at Prerana Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society D.K “Centenary Building”. This meeting was presided over by Sri. Darshan H.V., I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner & President, IRCS. Chairman Sri. CA. Shantharama Shetty, Dr. Satheesh Rao Vice-Chairman, Sri. Mohan Shetty K Hon. Treasurer, Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde Secretary, Managing Committee Members, Advisors and others were present. 141 life members participated in the meeting.

15/08/2025 - Independence Day and Geneva Convention Day Celebrations

1. Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025 at IRCS, Centenary Building. Flag hoisted by Shri. Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Ex. Mayor Mangalore City Corporation. Chairman CA. Shantharama Shetty. Managing Committee Members Dr. Sachidananda Rai, Sri. Hariprasad Pai P.B, Sri. Gurudath Kamath, Sri. Pushparaj Jain, Sri. Mohan Shetty K, Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde Secretary and Staff, OJAS trust President Mrs. Mangala N.K, OJAS Trust members and others were present on this occasion.

2. on August 12, 2025 Indian Red Cross Society, D.K. District Branch, in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross, Mangalore University jointly organised Geneva Convention Day at Prerana Auditorium, Centenary Building, IRCS, Mangalore.

The purpose of this day is to convey the message to young minds that let us walk on the path of mercy, even in the midst of war. The programme was inaugurated with the Red Cross Song. The dignitaries and invitee who had arrived for the programme were welcomed by the Secretary of IRCS Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde.

The event began with an inauguration ceremony, including the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present on the dais. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. S.A. Prabhakara Sharma K.A.S., (Rtd) by lighting the lamp and said that youth to engage in more social work. The programme presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch. Managing Committee Members Dr. Sachidananda Rai, Sri. Gurudath M. Kamath, Sri. Yathish Baikampady, Sri. Mohan Shetty K, Dr. Sumana, Sri. Kishorechandra Hegde Secretary and others were present on this occasion.
