Donation Day on 13thAugust, 2026, at 11:00 AM. in Prerana
Auditorium, Centenary Building, Old D.C. Office Compound, Mangaluru.
The
programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ravishankar Shetty.K, State Co –coordinator,
Jeevasarthakathe who high lightened the need for greater awareness about organ
donation. He stressed that people should be encouraged to register as organ
donors and that awareness programme should help remove misconceptions and fears
associated with organ donation.
During the programme, Dr. Prashanth.
B, provided valuable information to be students about organ donation and its
importance. An organ recipient also shared his personal experience and
expressed gratitude to the donor, stating that the timely organ donation had
given him a lease of life.
The
programme was presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty, Chairman, IRCS,
DK District Branch emphasized that organ donation is
entirely a voluntary, altruistic decision. He noted that formal legal
registration and the consent of family/parents are vital components of the
framework. He encouraged the student community to actively sign up as
registered donors.
The programme was attended by Dr. Sumana B,
Director, YRC Sub Committee, Red Cross Directors and other dignitaries,
representatives and Nodal Officers of the Youth Red Cross, Programme Officers
also participated in the programme. Students from Mangalore
University, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) & Nitte (Deemed to be
University) and other YRC volunteers numbering more than 250.

Mangalore University jointly organised Youth Red Cross Symposium in commemoration
of “World Red Cross Day – 2026” on 08.05.2026 at Prerana
Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society, Centenary Building, Mangaluru.
The programme was inaugurated by Sri.
D. Vedavyas Kamath MLA, Mangalore South, by lighting the lamp said that the Red Cross,
through noble initiatives such as blood donation drives and disaster management
services carried out without expectation of reward, continues to inspire
students and youth. Appreciating the organisation’s efforts in providing free
blood to poor patients during emergencies, he appealed to the public, institutions,
and students to organise blood donation camps on a larger scale. The programme

be University) jointly organised “World Health Day” on 07.04.2026 at Prerana
Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society, Centenary Building, Mangaluru.
The programme was inaugurated
by Dr. Shraddha Shetty, Prof. & Head Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of KMC Hospital, by lighting the lamp said that
“Even a serious disease like cancer can be saved by effective treatment if
detected at an early stage. Preventive measures and regular check-ups are the
best way to prevent the disease. It is necessary to create awareness among the

Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch Mangalore organised “International Women’s Day” on 30.03.2026 at Prerana Auditorium, Indian Red Cross Society, Centenary Building, Mangaluru. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Usman A, Deputy Director, Dept. of Women & Child Development lighting the lamp and presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch and said that respecting women is not just a duty, it is our culture. Women empowerment is the foundation for building a sustainable and strong society. He said that the District Red Cross will give high priority to providing various facilities including health camps to Anganwadi teachers who are engaged in humanitarian service along with the education of young children. Child Development Project Officer, Mangaluru Urban Project Ms. Shwetha N. was the chief guest.
12/01/2026 - National Youth Day Celebration – YRC Awards 2025
Indian Red Cross Society and Youth Red Cross, D.K District Branch, Mangaluru jointly organized “National Youth Day” on the eve of “164th Jayanthi of Swamy Vivekananda”- YRC Best Unit and Best Programme Officer - 2025” award distribution Ceremony on 12.01.2026 at Prerana Auditorium, IRCS, Centenary Building, Old D.C office Premises, Mangaluru. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Subramanya Nayak, Principal New Mangala College of Nursing, Mangaluru by lighting the lamp and said that Swami Vivekananda's message was an inspiration for the youth to engage themselves in public service. The programme presided over by Sri. CA. Shantharama Shetty, Member, National Executive Committee, IRCS New Delhi and Chairman IRCS, D.K District Branch.
03/12/2025 - Junior and Youth Red Cross Programmes
1. Junior Red Cross Orientation and Junior Red Cross Unit Inaugurated by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman, IRCS on 02nd September 2025 at Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangalore.
2. On 03.09.2025 Youth Red Cross Unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore organised a District level One day Disaster Management Training Programme in collaboration with the NDRF and Regional Response Centre, Bengaluru. 150 students and members of the public actively participated in the training.
3. Indian Red Cross Society and Youth Red Cross of Dakshina Kannada District, Mangaluru organised World First Aid Day - 2025 on 13.09.2025 at Prerana Auditorium, IRCS Centenary Building.
The guests of honor, Eminent and Senior Faculty for First Aid training from IRCS, Karnataka State Branch Dr. B Ramachandra Bhat and Rtn Sri. MD N. Vinod Kudva addressed the gathering of YRC Volunteers befitting the occasion.
The programme presided over by CA. Shantharama Shetty Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, D.K District Branch, in his presidential address briefed about the significance and purpose of conducting such awareness programmes. He has also briefed about the humanitarian services rendered by IRCS DK and YRC in the past and the roadmap for more such activities to reach out to the needy on time in future.
Shri. Mohan Shetty, Treasurer IRCS, Managing Committee Members Shri. Hariprasad Rai P.B, Dr. Sumana B and others were present in this programme.
Shri Kishorechandra Hegde, Secretary IRCS DK welcomed all and proposed the vote of thanks to all the gathering.
More than 225 YRC volunteers from the colleges of Mangalore University, Nitte, Yenepoya and Aloysius (Deemed to be Universities) enthusiastically participated.
An interactive session of 80 minutes, on First Aid Awareness was conducted by Resource person from Yenepoya Nursing College Shri Jithin Raj V.
